Deadline: August, 15 2011
Birds-of-a-Feather (BoF) sessions provide an environment for colleagues with similar interests to meet for an informal discussion to exchange ideas and share information. The proposers of a BoF session will serve as the discussion leader, but they are not expected to and, in fact, should not prepare a presentation.
If there is enough interest, We are planning to reserve one or two 1 hour slots for BoF sessions at this year’s ENLG, and are now soliciting proposals for BoF sessions. Any topic related to NLG, the NLG community, or NLG and its relation to other fields are of interest. In particular, the BoF sessions can serve as a space to discuss topics that normally would not be appropriate for a research presentation. For example, there will be a discussion session for SimpleNLG users and one of us would like to suggest a discussion on introductory teaching material for NLG. If you have an idea, but you are not sure, just submit it and then we can talk about it.
A proposal for a BoF session should include the following information.
- Title of the session
- The proposers’ names, affiliations, email addresses.
- Abstract: not more than 1000 characters (less is good).
- Relevance: Why do you think that member of the NLG community are interested in discussing this issue?
- Special requirements, if any: Because of the informal and spontaneous nature of BoF sessions, we assume that no A/V equipment is needed. If you really think that you will need some form of projection equipment or other technology, please let us know. We cannot guarantee that it will be available, but we will make an effort and let you know as soon as possible.
Please, email proposals to striegnk@union.edu by August, 15, 2011
